When Niki (of Niki Marie Photography) first sent me an email about Kelly and Kevin’s upcoming Garden Theater wedding, I couldn’t have been any more excited. I was honored she referred me to design the invitation for this special couple’s wedding. They wanted to highlight the city of Detroit, which is near and dear to my heart. Their classic and neutral wedding this June was beautiful, full of fun and love, and a night to remember. These two looked amazing – and you can see them each glowing with happiness, beaming in every photo.
To showcase our amazing city, I painted a watercolor illustration of the skyline. This image was used throughout their paper goods as a repeat element, most notably as their invitation’s gorgeous envelope liner. Because both of their names start with “K,” I did a double K monogram to place with the illustration. The invitation set the tone for Kelly and Kevin’s wedding weekend, not just at the Garden Theater, but throughout Detroit in general.
Kelly and Kevin picked some fun elements for their wedding day stationery. Their ceremony program design was a cheeky and funny timeline of the day, outlining everything from “we do” to “we party”. Formal doesn’t have to be stuffy – and I love that these two took that to heart. We made sure their ceremony program wasn’t boring, and that it had some personality!
Jen House Design knocked the all-white florals out of the park, and these photos from Niki Marie Photography are truly next level. Getting to be a small part in this couple’s big day meant the world to me, and helping to celebrate their love story – in my hometown – made it that much better. Congratulations to Kelly and Kevin!
