Moms do so much for us and they deserve the best! In order to host a fabulous Mother’s Day brunch, you need some lovely decor, fresh flowers, and a make ahead menu that can be prepped the night before. This way, you don’t have to be up at dawn to spoil her.

The Decor

Stick to the pastel floral theme. It’s cute and perfect for springtime, when your Mother’s Day brunch is happening!

Step 1: fill the house with fresh flowers. If possible, cut stems from your garden or work with a local florist for what you need. If not, a high quality grocery option always works in a pinch! Pro tip – if you’re planning to buy florals from Trader Joe’s (or Whole Foods or other chain), stop in when they open on Saturday morning. Our local TJ’s is swarmed with people buying flowers Mother’s Day weekend, and you don’t want the sad leftovers!

Lavender tablecloth | Mother's Day brunch ideas - Leah E. Moss Designs

This lavender tablecloth is the perfect “base layer” for a Mother’s Day brunch tablescape. This with the daisies on top makes for an instant spring party!

If the full tablecloth feels a little too bold for you, this linen runner would be perfect! The photo is a bit deceiving, since it’s only 36″ long. One down the center of the table would be nice, or two flanking the centerpiece florals would work to have the draping effect off the ends of the table, like the photo.

Make-Ahead Mother's Day Brunch Menu

I love to host, but admittedly hosting in the morning is hard — even for a morning person! When hosting a brunch, my goal is to set the table the night before, and get as much food prep done in advance as possible.

I found a sample menu from the queen herself, Ina Garten, that would work well for a completely made-ahead meal!

The menu:

  • *Bloody Mary: Ina obviously does hers from scratch but it’s hard to argue with the McClure’s spicy mix. Add that to ice-cold vodka (in the freezer the night before) and spend more effort on some fancy garnishes!
  • *Fruit and Yogurt: Here’s a video of her jazzing up some yogurt into a more festive sauce.
  • *Banana Crunch Muffins: (or blueberry or chocolate chip or poppyseed – you get the idea). Here’s the recipe for hers!
  • *Marmalade Butter: mix together room-temperature butter and orange marmalade. The end.
  • *Smoked Salmon Frittata: This is the only part you’d have to do that morning, but it’s mostly inactive time. Throw it in the oven and then go shower! Serve it straight out of the pan for one less dish to wash. Get her recipe here.

Easy - and fabulous - gift idea for mom!

If you’re in need of a gift idea for your mom, why not a gift of confidence? Get her a color consultation — she’ll learn which colors make her natural features shine extra bright. She’ll get insight for clothes, makeup, jewelry, and hair that will enhance her beauty. You can purchase it online, she gets to enjoy it, and it’s not just another *thing* collecting dust in her house.

I had my color consultation done by the amazing Created Colorful team and I can’t say enough about them! Use code LEAHEMOSS to score a discount on a consult for yourself or as a gift.

A lot of their clients have used Mother’s Day as a chance to help their mom learn their best colors and as something to bond over. But, their team suggested some other women who might also benefit from an “I see you” gift on Mother’s Day…

The three people the gift of a color consult could deeply impact:
  1. Your friend for whom Mother’s Day is a triggering or painful time. Who is struggling with infertility, has lost their mom, or has a complicated relationship with their mother.
  2. Your friend who is a postpartum mom, a single mom, a military spouse, or a mom whose kids are in a challenging season.
  3. A mentor figure in your life. Someone who has been “like a mom” to you.

Regardless, a color consult is a perfect gift idea! Use code LEAHEMOSS to score a discount on a consult for yourself or as a gift. And you don’t even have to wrap it 🔥

So that’s it! I hope you found this post with Mother’s Day brunch ideas to be helpful. Go spoil your mom — she deserves it. And if you ARE a mom, thank you for all that you do! You’re a rockstar and are doing a great job.

xoxo, Leah
