Brittany and Josh’s purple and grey Mansion at Oyster Bay wedding in Woodbury, Long Island was beautiful! As their invitations designer, I was honored to create an elegant suite as well as lots of details for the day itself. Let’s relive their celebration, thanks to incredible photographs from Ashe Photography.
Brittany and Josh had a purple and grey color palette. Along with these main colors, their florals and other details featured accents of pinks and taupes, but overall the palette was purple-heavy… perfect for end of spring / beginning of summer!
They were hosting a formal wedding and wanted everything to be ultra classic.
Here, you can see the digital mockup I sent to the couple as part of their stationery design process. You can see each element included, at scale and in reference to the other elements.
This is part of every proof round! Then, we take what was on screen and it translates to real life.
The invitations were mailed in an oversized grey envelope, lined with a modernist abstract painting. I hand calligraphed each of their guests’ names and addresses in a dark purple ink.
Once they opened the envelope, guests had a wrapped bundle with a silver wax seal and dark purple belly band, wrapped around the stack of cards inside.
The main card was double thick, two color letterpress. The calligraphy for the bride and groom’s names was ultra flourished, per the bride’s request! Their monogram featured the same ornate style. The added details were included on a grey card that matched the outer envelope. Luxury and sophistication through and through — these definitely delivered a “wow” at mailboxes and generated lots of excitement for their Mansion at Oyster Bay wedding.
Brittany and Josh each looked fabulous for their big day.
These two shared a heartfelt first look.
Brittany and Josh’s outdoor ceremony was held in a perfect, beautifully landscaped garden area on the grounds at the venue. One of the perks of a Mansion at Oyster Bay wedding is having access to this gorgeous, historic property — it’s just as beautiful outside as it is indoors.
They opted for an unplugged ceremony, so I created a sign with that request for their loved ones to be fully present.
Their recessional was full of joy — and bubbles!
Brittany and Josh pulled in lots of design details from their stationery for their Mansion at Oyster Bay wedding reception.
Once they entered the reception hall, guests were greeted by a welcome sign, as well as a display table with escort cards and beautiful florals.
All the signage tied in with their invitation. Some elements were the same dark purple. Others featured the same painting from their envelope liner. Cohesive from start to finish!
Rather than a traditional guest book, this couple had a custom jersey created with their last name. Guests signed this, so we had a sign explaining it. Such a fun twist on tradition.
Each person’s seat included a menu, a “coaster” to be used as a drink cover, and a gift from the couple. The table numbers themselves were a frosted clear and purple 3D acrylic, which brought a modern twist to their classic linen selection.
Though not pictured, Brittany also opted to include custom playing cards (one deck placed per table), for any loved ones who weren’t big dancers. That way, they could sit and enjoy themselves playing cards as the evening progressed. Incredibly thoughtful, and I loved designing this chic and personal detail.
Brittany and Josh’s purple bar details were so fun! Their signature cocktails were named for their cats. I designed their bar signage to feature photos of each of them.
Their custom cocktail napkins featured the same monogram from their invitation in purple foil stamping.
As part of the late night festivities, guests got to enjoy a cigar bar. I created signage for this “station,” as well as custom match boxes.
Thank you for letting me play a role in your beautiful celebration!
