From the first time I chatted with Annie Kate, I could tell how excited she was to marry Troy. I knew their Battello wedding in Jersey City, New Jersey was going to be meaningful, with lots of personal touches. Their day was beautiful — neutral and sophisticated, with plenty of food and appearances from their pups! Thanks to gorgeous photography from Nicole Wagner, let’s relive their day.
Getting Ready
Annie Kate and Troy spent a bit of time together, with their sweet pups, before each getting ready for their Battello wedding. Their portraits at home are the cutest! It’s no surprise that Riley and Chazz made an appearance on the invitation — they were part of the action on the big day, so it really was a true preview.
The bride and groom then got ready for the main event!
The Invitation
Annie Kate and Troy commissioned a custom invitation for their Battello wedding. There were lots of unique elements.
Elevated materials and printing techniques: Their main invitation card was a barely-there, double thick, sage green cardstock. It featured dark green letterpress printing as well as gold foil stamping. It was a show-stopper! Along with this, there was a silk ribbon wrap and a charcoal grey envelope, addressed in calligraphy.
Custom watercolor artwork: As part of the commission process, their invitations featured custom watercolor artwork, of meaningful elements to the couple. The bride’s maiden name is “Starr,” so there was a subtle star theme throughout. In the invitation, they appeared in a tiny format as a pattern in the envelope liner. From the outset, Annie Kate told me their dogs were very important to them, so they made an appearance on the reply card, as the ones requesting the response from guests! Talk about a personal touch. Likewise, I also painted a custom map of their venue and surrounding locations for the wedding weekend as part of the invitation.
Stamps: The bride and groom are both big coffee drinkers, so their reply stamps were the “latte” series from USPS. Such a fun, small detail!
Stationery-specific photoshoot
For the end of the year, I had photos taken of my work, including these invitations for Annie Kate and Troy’s Battello wedding. These particular images (not on the wedding day) were taken by Casey Brodley and styled by Birch Affair.
Now back to the main event!
Portraits and Waterfront Battello Wedding Ceremony
Officially husband and wife! Then, it was time to party with the Spinettas.
Reception Details
There were so many details at this Battello wedding reception for Annie Kate and Troy. Everything was neutral — black, white, and gold, with touches of sage green.
They served so much food, so there were tons of signs and a menu for each guest, with headings in Italian. Bars were well stocked, complete with custom cocktail napkins, match boxes, and signature drink signage.
Their escort card display featured custom-made pockets with the guests’ names on the outside and assigned table number on a card inside. Laser cut headings graced the top of the boards.
My personal favorite details were the dog biscuit favors and the coffee bar, each complete with custom signage.
Annie Kate and Troy, wishing you a lifetime of happiness! Thank you for putting your trust in me as a vendor for your meaningful Battello wedding. It was such a pleasure. May you always look this happy as you dance the night away!
