Katie and Atticus met as undergrads at Notre Dame. So, fast forward past graduation and these two decided to “come home” to campus to get married. They hosted their wedding at Notre Dame, in the Basilica, and it was the perfect next chapter in their love story. Let’s relive their special day, thanks to photos from Samuel Greenhill.
Getting Ready
Katie was a timeless beauty, with a classic gown. Simple silhouette and gorgeous lace. Hair pulled back in a classic chignon, with just the right amount of “undone” to feel approachable — and like herself. But that cathedral veil brought the drama, perfect for their cathedral ceremony.
Meanwhile, Atticus wore a classic black tux. They both beamed with joy all day!
The invitations for this wedding at Notre Dame
For their wedding at Notre Dame, this sweet couple wanted to highlight the place that was so meaningful to them in their custom invitations. The map of their special campus experience highlighted their love story, including a custom hand-drawn illustration of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, the actual (incredible) setting where they’d say “I do.”
Their main invitation card was letterpress printed on blush card stock and all the elements had spring floral elements throughout. A silk ribbon tied all elements together, while the envelopes featured modern calligraphy and vintage postage.
The envelope liner featured a hand-drawn illustration of two trees, side by side. Along with the trees, a Pablo Neruda verse was tucked in too. This line was special to Katie and Atticus’s relationship and it felt significant to include it as part of their wedding invitations.

Basilica of the Sacred Heart ceremony - an iconic wedding at Notre Dame
If you haven’t had the pleasure of being inside the Basilica of Sacred Heart, it’s truly a breathtaking space. Katie and Atticus’s wedding ceremony held here was one for the ages. If you’re looking for an iconic wedding at Notre Dame, look no further.
They knew the ceremony would be of the utmost importance to them, so we made sure their ceremony program reflected this sentiment. This was a multi-page, mini prayer book, complete with all the calls and responses, music for all the songs, and text for major prayers, as well as all the usual information pertaining to weddings (order of ceremony and VIPs involved in the wedding). Such a special keepsake!
The event branding was strong here, with the same illustration of the Basilica, calligraphy style, and silk ribbon from the invitation featured again on the ceremony program, in different ways.
South Bend reception details
Katie and Atticus danced the night away with friends and family at The Armory in downtown South Bend.
My favorite detail? The same Pablo Neruda quote from their invitation became the top portion of a full wall installation for escort cards! The words were individually laser cut and mounted as the heading for the display. Each escort card was a mini envelope, hand calligraphed in gold ink. What a statement for their loved ones as they entered.

First dance
